Over 50 PMK cadres held for rail roko at Coimbatore Junction

Coimbatore: Over 50 Pattali Makkal Katchi cadres were arrested when they staged a rail roko at Coimbatore Railway junction.

Condemning against the State and Central governments for negligence in setting up of Cauvery Management board the PMK has announced statewide rail roko and as a part of it, the cadres thronged the railway junction and tried to breach the police barricade.

Led by Pongalur Ira Manikandan the cadres raised slogans against the state and Centre before they were arrested.

Similarly, members of PMK in Tiruppur attempted to stage a rail roko at Tiruppur railway station. The protesters were stopped by police using barricades at the railway station’s entrance and this led to a scuffle between party members and police. Later the protesters staged a road roko in Kumaran road, Tiruppur demanding the formation of Cauvery Management Board. Police later arrested the protesters.

In Nilgiris, more than 50 PMK members protested near ATC grounds in Ooty and raised slogans against Central and State governments for not setting up Cauvery Management Board within the time specified by Supreme Court. The protesters said that they would siege Karnataka park in Ooty if Cauvery Management Board is not set up.
